The Cluster of Asset Management
Within the financial sector, the 'asset management'-industry has formed as a successful cluster of interdependent actors. It includes financial institutions, like depository or private banks, as well as securities dealers. asset managers and family offices, independent financial advisors and distributors of financial products belong to this cluster. Likewise are stock-exchange listed investment companies or real estate companies part of it.
The cluster includes managers of collective schemes investing in listed securities (e.g. UCITS) or managers of alternative investments funds (AIFM) and their advisors, including private equity and venture capital funds, hedge funds and fund of funds. Trusts and foundations, as well as pension funds should be counted in too. Finally, FinTech and other media companies have entered the cluster of asset mangement.
